Alzheimer’s Disease is unfortunately common and right now no cure is known. But, that doesn’t mean there aren’t options to help improve the quality of life of those struggling with ALZ. One recent development: Red. Studies have shown that the color red is easier for Alzheimer’s patients to remember than other colors, meaning that red objects may help these individuals to function more properly for a longer time. For example, Alzheimer’s patients given red dishes and silverware tend to have an easier time feeding themselves with these utensils than those using other colors of identical products. Why? While much remains unknown, some think that the strong contrast between red and other colors makes a more permanent impression on people, meaning those with Alzheimer’s or dementia may be able to remember the function of red things longer.
